As financial firms expand their use of tokenized assets, Apple and Google are recruiting senior employees with expertise in stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and blockchain infrastructure, according to job listings from the companies.

According to the listings, Apple is looking for a New York-based strategist to help shape Apple Pay products, with blockchain knowledge among the preferred qualifications. Google Cloud is seeking a technical leader to advise digital asset customers across Asia-Pacific and influence its Web3 product roadmap.

According to Apple, the role would support Apple Card and Apple Cash, which cover credit cards, peer-to-peer transfers, stored value, and other consumer financial products. The work includes evaluating new product structures, commercial models, partnerships, and growth opportunities across Apple’s Wallets, Payments, and Commerce organization.

“This role requires a strategic thinker who can blend analytical rigor with a strong business sense, formulate clear and compelling recommendations, and drive projects forward in a fast-paced, collaborative environment,” the company said in the listing.

Apple lists an understanding of “stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and blockchain technology” among the preferred qualifications. It also wants candidates with experience in peer-to-peer payments or credit cards and knowledge of payment systems outside the United States.

Stablecoins, including Tether’s USDT, and Circle’s USDC are blockchain-based tokens typically designed to track currencies such as the U.S. dollar.

The listing does not say that Apple plans to add either technology to Apple Pay, Apple Cash, or Apple Card.

Google, meanwhile, is hiring an Industry Principal Architect for Web3 in Hong Kong.

According to Google, the architect would advise Google Cloud customers including blockchain foundations, institutional exchanges, digital asset custodians, financial institutions tokenizing real-world assets, and decentralized application developers.

“By identifying common architectural friction points across the industry, you will author reusable reference architectures, influence Google’s Web3 product roadmap, and establish Google Cloud as the cloud of choice for Web3 builders and institutional adopters,” Google wrote.

According to Google, applicants need to be familiar with stablecoin payment rails, tokenized deposits, custody systems, blockchain validators, zero-knowledge systems, and smart contracts. The role also covers security and compliance under regional virtual asset rules, including requirements from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Securities and Futures Commission.

While Apple is just entering the stablecoin cryptocurrency space, Google already operates blockchain infrastructure and has outlined plans for the Google Cloud Universal Ledger, a layer-1 network for wholesale payments and asset tokenization. Google was also named among the supporters of the stablecoin project Open USD, alongside Coinbase, Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, BlackRock, and Shopify.

Other payment and technology companies are deploying stablecoins for settlement and payouts. Visa recently said its stablecoin settlement volume had exceeded a $20 billion annualized rate. Mastercard has also expanded settlement support for stablecoins, including USDC and Ripple’s RLUSD.
