This week, Vuzix Corporation started shipments for its latest order of XanderGlasses, a private-label version of Vuzix Shield smart glasses, an assistive technology solution for individuals with hearing loss.
The move marks another great uptick for Vuzix following a strong start to 2025. XanderGlasses aims to assist roughly 48 million people in the US who experience hearing loss. Currently, the device is shipping to users in the US.
The Vuzix Shield smartglasses can display real-time captions of in-person conversations directly within the wearer’s field of view, allowing users to stay fully engaged in social and professional settings.
Alex Westner, Co-Founder and CEO of Xander, added:
Powered by the Vuzix Shield, XanderGlasses have been in market for over a year, deeply impacting the lives of people with severe to profound hearing loss. We’re excited to take this next step in our partnership with Vuzix to private label XanderGlasses and optimize them for our customers as we continue to grow.
XanderGlasses also operate independently, meaning the Vuzix-powered device does not require a smartphone or internet connection to provide its assistance visualisations. Moreover, the device contains a built-in closed captioning functionality and features safety-rated lenses with integrated UV protection.
Paul Travers, President and CEO of Vuzix, also added:
Xander continues to innovate with purpose, and we’re proud that Vuzix Shield smart glasses serve as the foundation for this important solution. As demand for XanderGlasses grows, we’re excited to support their team in scaling delivery and impact.
XanderGlasses transforms the Vuzix Shield hardware into a device designed to meet this healthcare need. Xander has gained recognition for its product, being honoured as a CES 2024 Innovation Award Honoree in Accessibility and Ageing Tech.
More on Vuzix
The news comes during a much-needed period of growth for Vuzix. Travers noted in March this year: “By combining Vuzix Shield smart glasses with Xander’s powerful embedded voice captioning software, we are addressing a significant need,” creating further demand for its hardware portfolio, “we look forward to supporting Xander as they scale their solution this year and beyond.”
Vuzix has seen a significant increase since the second quarter, for instance, Vuzix has expanded its collaboration with the U.S. Department of Labour’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which enhances the deployment of its workplace AR smart glasses within the government organisation.
Additionally, Vuzix has introduced Augmentos, a specialised operating system tailored for immersive human-computer interfaces in workplace environments. This operating system is now available for Vuzix’s product line, allowing end-users and developers to utilise products such as the smart glasses that incorporate AI functionality.
Vuzix could achieve significant success in 2025, and with the booming AR smart glasses market, the company is gaining impressive momentum.
